It is hard to believe that Christmas is next month, isn’t it? That means the last quarterly PayProp Rental Index for the year is here.

In this issue, we investigate the effects that the extended lockdown has had on rental growth, both nationally and provincially – and explain the impact on agencies.

We also look at how rising arrears and falling interest rates are changing the outlook for the rental market.

Next, we're using the Index to help launch our second edition of the PayProp State of the Rental Industry Survey after the runaway success of the first edition earlier this year.If you have 10 minutes to spare, we would really appreciate your input!

Finally, we catch up with Harcourts, one of the world’s biggest PayProp-powered rental agencies. South Africa COO Anton Jansen van Vuuren and CEO Richard Gray explain why their 14-year partnership with PayProp is stronger than ever – and how payment automation has helped them ride out the lockdown.

I hope you enjoy this edition of our Rental Index. As always, please feel free to share your thoughts with me. Until our return in 2021!
